The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and storm water, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the city.
The Bureau of Customer Services (BCS) oversees the production and collection of water and sewer bills along with all the work required to maintain our citywide network of meters and meter reading devices. Serve as in-house resource to field/borough locations to support bureau and agency environmental, health & safety compliance and assist the BCS EH&S Coordinator in conducting health and safety assessments. Candidate may direct borough wide Water Use Inspection program by assigning, supervising, counseling and evaluating the work of inspectors; advises plumbers, engineers, contractors and others about Department rules and regulations relating to the installation and operation of water use devices; and interview customers in reference to complaints of water waste, contaminated water and faulty pressure.

Provide oversight, instruction and records for all staff to be trained as needed in the proper maintenance and use of safety equipment. Additionally, the selected candidates will direct staff or will directly serve any warnings or violations when there is a safety issue discovered during all assignments.
Must assist as safety officer or as one of a group of safety officers during emergency situations or on special assignments as part of an EH&S response team during regular, extended or weekend hours.
