Hospital Controller | Healthcare Finance Leadership Opportunity

A leading hospital system is seeking an experienced Hospital Controller to join their finance team. This critical leadership role oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, and audit coordination while managing key team members. The ideal candidate will bring hospital system experience and a proven track record in healthcare accounting to drive financial excellence and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor the Assistant Controller and accounting team members
• Direct and organize departmental functions by assigning responsibilities and monitoring activities to ensure timely completion according to hospital, division, and corporate policies
• Establish and monitor productivity goals and performance metrics for the accounting department
• Foster an environment of open communication within the finance department and across hospital leadership
• Facilitate the preparation and completion of annual budgets, cost reports, and ad hoc financial analysis under the direction of the Assistant CFO/CFO
• Prepare, coordinate, and manage internal and external audit processes
• Ensure compliance with healthcare accounting standards, GAAP principles, and regulatory requirements
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
• Provide strategic financial insights to support hospital management decision-making

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 1-2 years of supervisory experience managing accountants
• Hospital system or healthcare accounting experience (required)
• Strong knowledge of healthcare financial reporting and reimbursement
• Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) with concentration in Accounting or Finance
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
• Experience with cost report preparation and Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement
• Previous controller experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
